This is the end, Trailer!

Look, I will try to post more stuff on the blog, lately there is no time, again work, kids etc.

But movies still come out. I watched this trailer today and I believe this could be something funny. With all the real characters and well just look at the trailer, it is self explanatory.

It looks funny as hell, so enjoy! and be ready!

BTW, I just saw another movie, The five year engagement, please don't watch it, it's long it's boring and seriously nothing good about it. I watched it so you don't have to.

Be ready, cause tonight it's happening!!

Dexter:

After I don't know how long, I think around 6 months the next season of Dexter comes out. It happens tonight. It's the seventh season after a crazy cliffhanger at the end of the sixth season where Deb finds Dexter stabbing a guy in the hearth on his famous "dinner table". So tonight it happens and I presume everyone who is actually interested in will find a "way" of seeing this episode.

If you haven't seen the trailer yet, you are probably unworthy of seeing the episode tonight, but hey, I'll let this one slide.

Homeland:

We have only seen one season of Homeland, lot's of Emmies and great stars, again it starts tonight, and we will see what Brody will do now. I am quite excited to see if they can keep up with the standards that they have shown us in the first season In any case I am excited to see the different great characters in place.
Enjoy the trailer here below.

James Bond, Skyfall, trailer!

I am a big James bond fan, the charm, the personality, the gadgets, the cars and of course the woman. The problem is sometimes, a movie even with all those factors in it can just be trash. Take for example the last one, quantum of Solace. I saw this one and I felt bad since it was crap. So honestly I have big hopes for the upcoming James Bond, Skyfall. Enjoy the trailer.

I think this one will provide all the necessary thrills as well as a good story and an even greater villain. Be prepared!

Taken 2, Trailer!

Liam Neeson is a vicious guy you just don’t want to piss him off. At least that’s what we have seen in the first movie, in which he almost butchered half of Europe to get to his daughter, actually I believe I would have done the same, the problem is I wouldn’t have gotten so far. So they have decided to make a second one, and from what I see in this trailer it looks sick. So sit back (relax-if you can) and enjoy the trailer.

Yeah ass kicking, shooting and killing, I am happy they made another movie, the first one was “hardcore”, based on the trailer it will be the same, I just hope the story is good enough. As always be prepared!

5 short movie reviews!

So I decided on this new format of doing things, just give reviews for a bunch of movies at once, its not that I doubt think you don’t read the long reviews, but this give you in one shot many reviews. It becomes more efficient that’s all. Since I watch different movies all the time and not only the new once I will just give you all of them, give you my felling about the movie, and then you can just “get” this movie or go to the movies to watch it or not. So let’s begin.

Safe House: I expected quite a lot from this move, Denzel is great and Reynolds has potential. Its pure action, I wanted a lot more, unfortunately the plot isn’t that interesting and the “real” bad guy is that hidden as the writer believed he would be. If you are a Denel Fan, watch it, but if not just let it slide.
Grade: 5.5 out of 10

War Horse: I am a history freak, especially the big once. This movie brings together emotions, actions and chills. The shots are spectacular and the story is moving. If you haven’t watched it I suggest you do, of course if you hate horses again not for you. If you are unbiased towards them this will be a nice movie, even though a bit too long.
Grade: 8 out of 10

Rampart: Woody Harrleson shows in this movie that he is quite the actor, he brings a kind of corrupt cop, that tries to do the right things but nothing works out for him. Drugs, alcohol, sleeping around, weird family. The whole movie you expect something to happen which doesn’t come. I would say a movie for someone with patience; you know does quality indie movies. Grade: 6.5 out of 10

American Reunion: This series is a classic, I have watch the first three of them, then there was like four or five crappy once in the middle and then this came out. The reunion of the original cast. I must admit it’s nothing special, but you have a couple of good scenes, during which you actually laugh a bit. Watch it for the old times, the young fellas of today won’t watch it because it’s not that good, so we owe it to ourselves to finish this chapter of our lives once and for all.

Grade: 7 out of 10

Act of valor: I was probably misinformed about this movie. I was sure that those navy seals or whatever they are were responsible for catching Bin Laden, and that this movie will bring us just that. So you understand that I was wrong, no Bin laden at all. What you do get is quality action. The whole movie was built up on many fronts with different enemies and missions. It is almost like a documentary to show you how there sea lions actually work. Of course they do their job well but the story was quite lame, so if you like first person shooters this movie will bring some good moves and memories , if not just let it be for others.

Grade: 6 out of 10

So that’s five movies:  some of them I suggest you watch some of them it actually depends on your taste.
See you next time.

Some of the movies I've seen, Review!

I know lately there wasn’t a lot of activity on the blog and I’m sorry for that but unfortunately I have a lot of work at my actual work. Yeah, I know I have a day job, who would believe that. All this real work doesn’t mean I didn’t watch any movies lately, not the newest once, but more the once you can “get” in a way. (everybody will understand what he wants to understand, of course he big logo on top of the post will give it away I think). So I watched a couple of them and I will give a mini review on each of them here below.

Iron Lady: This movie sucked balls if I may say so, yes she got another Oscar for it but that exactly the type of movie it is. It’s the kind of movie that gets Oscars, boring movies, without anything else that happens during the movie. I have seen the trailer and I actually was excited to see this one but it was crap and I didn’t even saw it till the end. Maybe this is the problem but it was a sort of weird torture for me. All in all: 4 out of 10

Man on a ledge: This movie was original, liked the idea, and it was nicely done. I am a big fan of the actors in questions so that’s another point here. It was interesting, entertaining and even though a bit predictable it was worth watching it and it kept me awake even though I was tired. If you haven’t still watched it, go on and enjoy. All in all: 7.5 out of 10

The Grey: Big of weird disappointment, I was prepared for this trailer, Liam is the man and I love him in action flicks, he brings out the sharp, dangerous and crazy person, which I definitely like. The whole movie had some thrilling factor, and wolfs can be scary especially when you have nothing to protect yourself with. But then it happened, the worst ending I have seen in years, what is this bullshit. You promise us something, you built it up like a freaking hurricane and then nothing, f*ck that shit.               All in all 6 out of 10.

This means war: Honestly, she is hot, not sure how old she is but she is. First reason to watch, then there is the second part, my wife was happy we watched a chick movie, and then you have the entertaining part. It was fun to watch, I liked the jokes and the perks the two spies do on each other, it was refreshing, not in the qualitative way but more in the popcorn evening don’t care about it way, you get what I am saying. Watch it why not. All in all: 7.5 out of 10

The dictator: Sasha Baron Cohen does it again, not in the same way as before, but it was funny. My definition of a funny movie is: You are alone in front of the screen and you still laugh about the jokes in a movie, meaning the movie is actually funny. The effect of friends around you laughing make you biased, you laugh when they laugh and of course the opposite. So even though the movie was scripted from a to z (Borat wasn't, at least not the whole thing) it was really funny. I enjoyed watching it, of course there is no need for cinema, just watch it at home.  All in all: 7.5 out of 10

That was that for the movies I “got” in a way, will bring you soon some more.

The Bourne Legacy, second trailer!

It became time that we got some hard footage about this new “Bourne Legacy movie” but, and this is a big but, I am a bit disappointed in the fact that the trailer tries to make Jeremy Renner’s character a better “ Bourne” than the original Bourne, I hope you understand what I mean. Everybody who watched the franchise until now just knows that Jason Bourne is the undefeated champion! We love him for his action, style and whatever he is the original. I didn’t say I don’t think Renner can’t deliver a believable Bourne, but pushing Jason of the cliff like that is rude and harsh. I especially liked that there is a direct linkage between the movies, I wasn’t sure if this would be the case but as you will see in the trailer, there is some unfinished business! Watch it, and enjoy!

I know what you think, from where the hell did Ed Norton come and landed in this movie, actually I don’t care I think this adds some serious weight to this expected summer hit. There will be action and thrills, bring it on, as always be prepared!

Expendables 2 trailer,Kick ass!

I probably know what you are going to say, the first movie was crap, why make a second one? But honestly my opinion about the first one wasn’t that bad, you need to put everything in perspective, it didn’t try to teach us a lesson or to be scary. His only purpose was to put on the silver screen all the possible action stars together so they could kick some ass. And that’s exactly what they did. The movie delivered hardcore action, explosions, big guns, knife fights, you can name it. And believe it or not it actually made some money, which of course meant a second one needs to come out. This of course isn’t the only reason; nobody wanted to piss off Chuck Norris after he decided to join the movie. Nobody had the balls to tell him; you mist your chance so they decided it would be easier to just make another one. For the Belgians between you guys you can be also proud, the muscles from Brussels, Jean Claude van Damme himself is in the movie, and if this isn’t enough we get the Governator to finish off everybody who still had doubts about this movie. And again it will do exactly what we expect, show us ridicules stunts and even bigger explosions. We could even call it Nostalgia! Watch the trailer here below, Enjoy!

Here is another trailer, fan made which I thought was funny to watch!

As promised, ridicules, but all in all together quite exciting. As always, be prepared!

Review: The Avengers

Director:  Joss Whedon

Stars: Robert Downey Jr.Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson

Genres: Action | Adventure | Sci-Fi

Release Date:10 May 2012

Memorable quote: (you have many, I decided on those two, btw both Downey JR.)

Steve Rogers: Big man in a suit of armour. Take that off, what are you?
Tony Stark: Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist.

&

Loki: What have I to fear?
Tony Stark: The Avengers. It's what we call ourselves, sort of like a team. "Earth's Mighiest Heroes" type thing.

Loki: Yes, I've met them.

Tony Stark: Yeah, takes us a while to get any traction, I'll give you that one. But let's do a head count here: your brother the demi-god; a super soldier, a living legend who kind of lives up to the legend; a man with breath-taking anger management issues; a couple of master assassins, and YOU, big fella, you've managed to piss off every single one of them.

Loki: That was the plan.

Tony Stark: Not a great plan. When they come, and they WILL, they'll come for you.

Loki: I have an army.

Tony Stark: We have a Hulk.

What?
We start this movie already knowing all the major characters, at least if you lived the last 7 years, you know all the heroes and their stories, the only difference is that they are being assembled and being united against one enemy. In short, superheroes assembled issues between heroes, bad guy and world war 3. Yeah, this sums it up.

Yes?
I can say that I waited a long time for this movie. I saw the birth of an idea, transformed into a script, a trailer and finally the movie itself. This whole time I was afraid my expectations will be too high and the fact that all the heroes are packed together is just another angle to view this and make money, well I was wrong. Of course you can’t ignore the money part, but my expectations weren’t too high. This movie rocks, period.

You can continue to read but it is quite simple, the movie is entertaining, exciting and action filled. Hilarious, beautifully done and ...enough with the adjectives you get the point.

One of the good things of this being a sequel to all the other heroes, there is no waste of time in the introduction, there is no wasting of time in labs with spider bites, or gamma radiation,  we get instantly to things we want to see, bad guys, explosions and of course superheroes.

I was afraid that not every hero will get enough screen time, again perfectly done.

I saw it in 3D, not sure it was necessary but it didn't disturb me which is a good beginning. We get a lot of crazy cool slow motions and close ups, beautiful long shots and special effects. Without spoiling anything just think about the freaking weird aircraft carrier. One word; astonishing.

I loved the fact that not everything went easy for the heroes, at some point you see them struggling and being in pain, makes them human I guess.

Last but not least, the actors, some are better than others, but I think I wouldn't just cut someone out, they were all necessary for the movie to work, even though my favorites are ironman and the hulk.

Really last thing, it was funny, seriously funny, some scenes just crack you up.

No?
Honestly only two minor things. I think that our bad guy, wasn't that bad altogether, I wasn't afraid of him and this makes the whole "real" danger for humanity less believable.

Secondly the ending was a bit predictable, I mean of course it is, it’s a hero movie, but the way things went I would have done something different, minor spoiler, independence day.

Well...

What can I say more, this is a great movie, I enjoyed every moment of it and I recommend you to watch it in the movies. Btw this is a great start for the summer movie hit period. Because of all the above I grade this...

Dark Knight rises 3rd trailer, must watch!!

People come to me and say, haven’t you seen the new Batman trailer, how didn’t you? You should be ashamed! Well I am ashamed, as I was sad till this morning. As a punishment for my behavior I watched it 10 times, and you know what I still love it. This is going to be the movie event of the year; I can’t wait for this to come out. We get so much new images than we got in previous trailers, which means we come close to this mega movie. My expectations are so freaking high, which actually makes me afraid, what if it won’t be so good? Well I guess we will have to find out, Christian Bale will rock, and we get these awesome quotes by Alfred and Bane looks amazing and scary I can just go on and on here. I suggest or better said I command you to watch this trailer, this is big and better sit down for this. Enjoy!

You see I didn’t promise anything I didn’t keep, this is amazing, and this movie will be amazing, so watch it again just so you get this feeling inside of you out, this craving for more batman, you know what it won’t help at all, since you just want more and more. As always be prepared! Watch it again!

Hotel Transylvania, trailer!

Dracula, who operates a high-end resort away from the human world, goes into overprotective mode when a boy discovers the resort and falls for the count's teen-aged daughter. This is the summary of the movie, and yeah this sounds like something original, so this caught my attention. Normally I try to stay with the classics like, Madagascar and Ice age, but sometimes something great comes up like, despicable me, which just brings something unseen. Here it gives us Adam Sandler’s voice in a Dracula costume, which sounds quite nice. Look at the trailer and you will see what I see. Enjoy!

I know looks funny and interesting at the same time, I forgot to mention the voice of Steve Buscemi also worth mentioning. As always be prepared!

Review: Hunger Games

Director: Gary Ross

Release Date:22 March 2012

Stars: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth and Woody Harrelson

Genres: Action | Drama | Sci-Fi | Thriller

Memorable quote:
President Snow: Hope, it is the only thing stronger than fear. A little hope is effective, a lot of hope is dangerous. A spark is fine, as long as it's contained.

What?
In a weird future, you have the rich and powerful and the poor and powerless. Years ago there was a rebellion by the poor; they lost, as punishment and as a constant reminder each year each district needs to give up one boy and one girls to participate in the hunger games, or better said modern televised gladiators. Those 24 lucky ones will fight to the death. They get sponsors; make up, cloth and training to become the best warriors and performers to build up the suspense the audience wants. May the odds be ever in your favor.

Yes?
I try always to rate a movie on different parameters, one of them is entertainment. Of course this can blur my vision and the actual quality of the movie. In this movie I was entertained, I didn’t think of anything else than this movie. I was in my seat leaving the moments, and not thinking, what else I could do with my time. So I guess this is a good sign.

I liked the story, I like the whole reality show factor, which of course already exist in other movies but this here had the whole package; Players, an arena, a producer, sponsors and winners. Before I entered this movie I was afraid that it’s going to be another childish movie for twelve year olds with the twilight Crazy concept. But for my astonishment it wasn’t. The movie had qualities, the story was actually interesting, and even after I left the cinema I was intrigued to know more about this whole weird little world these people live in. I felt for the players of this so called game of savagery. The scary part of course is, will we one day have to give up a child to play in a war game. Are we doing it already? Reality tv exists, the question is when will it go just
a bit spicier? Think about that.

The actors were good, loved Jennifer Lawrence she was amazingly mature and performed as of her life actually depended on it; I can only say great choice. Woody Harrelson is as always, funny and great to have on screen.

Of course the young black girl not sure of her name but she was amazing, I was sad when, … I won’t tell.

The beauty in the movie was the cruelty of children, everybody knows adults can be bad people but young children are even worse, I was a fat kid, believe me children are little monsters when we talk about teasing but killing and executing each other is another level. Don’t get me wrong I loved the fact that it was bloody, but when kids do it, it’s a bit different.

No?
I think the lesser part of this movie was how the whole thing was divided; I felt that the first part was too long, you have the first part, the introduction to this world, which of course is important, and then you have the games themselves. The introduction was too long for my taste and well I looked at my watch for once, I wanted the games to start.

Another problem was the Josh Hutcherson , I think he was just not good for the part. Secondly he is no “girl’s choice” kind of guy, I think he doesn’t suite the profile to be the hero in a romantic movie, as a straight married guy, I need to add.

BTW, what’s with the cheap special features,, your movie just earned around 500 million dollars, couldn’t you throw the explosions a bone.

Well…
As I said it before, this movie was entertaining as it was fun to watch. You got your money’s worth you could say. You could even watch it at the movies, it’s fun and refreshing and I can’t wait to see what the second part will bring us. I didn’t read the books, so don’t tell me if you see me. Because of all the above I grade this…

Total Recall, trailer!

Lately it became stylish to remake every movie, that had a good idea in the past but the effects were crap. That’s why Total recall gets a makeover. I must honestly say that haven’t watched the original one, possibly because I was 5 years old, I know that’s not a good excuse, but I looked at the trailer form this 1990 movie and I couldn’t figure out what this movie was about. It has something to do with the mind etc. So I must say that the trailer for the remake looks a lot better and we can actually try to understand something. So enjoy!

Colin Farrell looks like the guy we want for this one, the effects look amazing and I hope that the story will also bring us something to remember. As always be prepared!

American Reunion, Red band trailer!

I will keep it short, because I already talked about this upcoming movie; the problem is that it just looks great. The American Pie franchise peeked at the beginning and went downwards, you had all those stupid sequences which nobody watched until now, everyone is back, and I mean everyone. So I believe this will be the last trailer before the movie comes out so enjoy it.

Ok so I didn’t warn you it’s the Red band version, but who cares, looks amazing, and I cant wait for this to come out, as always be prepared!

Prometheus, trailer!

Everyone already heard of the 1979 movie called Alien and the franchise behind it. I actually didn’t watch it, maybe a couple of clips here and there but not the real thing. The good thing about great movies is that Hollywood love to recycle big successes. I don’t say this in a bad way, it’s just a fact. And when Ridley Scott takes matters in his own hands, things get messy. This movie below will come out around June this year, and in the science fiction world, this is a big deal. This movie is a prequel to the original movie, even though Ridley said that it doesn’t have a direct or perfect connection. Needless to say, the effects area amazing and I can guess the thrills are going to be crazy scary. So sit back and enjoy.

I told you, scary shit. I think especially the soundtrack here made this whole thing, into one big dark whole, scary and unpredictable. I will watch this at the movies for two reasons, one a classic reborn and the second reason if Ridley Scott decided to do a sequel I guess he put some effort in it. As always be prepared!

Review: warrior

Director: Gavin O'Connor

Stars: Tom Hardy, Nick Nolte and Joel Edgerton

Genres: Action | Drama | Sport

Release Date: 27 October 2011

Memorable quote: sorry but I just loved all off those

Frank Campana: You don't knock him out, you lose the fight. Understand me? You don't knock him out, you don't have a home.
&
Bryan Callen: I'll tell you what: you do that to someone on the street and they'd lock you up and throw away the key! Break out the yellow tape, Sam. Tommy's walking away from the cage like he's leaving a crime scene.
&
Frank Campana: You popped his shoulder? Good. I want you to pop his other shoulder.

What?
Two brothers go on an epic journey to the truth of life. Tommy Riordan an ex-marine haunted by his past, comes back to his hometown, filled with rage and anger on everybody and everyone finding his arch enemy, his father and ex-coach and decides to compete in the tournament for the ultimate fighting champion, worth 5 million dollars, for honor and money. On the other side far away from this story we find Brendan a former MMA fighter about to lose his house to the financial crisis, and a job which doesn’t pay off his debts. His only choice is to get back in the ring and try to survive each round for his family. Both ways are bound to cross each other at the main event of the evening, may the better brother win or better said survive.

Yes?
Since I was much younger and I mean much younger I loved fighting movies, this included Rocky (1-4, the fifth I didn’t really like, karate kid, weird Kungfu movies and you can just go on and on) and honestly this love didn’t really change with the years, maybe the quality needs to be better and be more convenient, but when two people kick the crap out of each other this just keeps my adrenaline flowing. So as I said it this movie brings MMA, for those unfamiliar with this, Mixed Martial Arts, it brings you everything from Jujitsu, Karate, Wrestling, Kung Fu together, just name it, everything is here, and of course everything is allowed. Ok you have some minor rules, but you have the blood, brute force and adrenaline. You get the idea, this is some interesting field, but that’s only one of the reasons I loved this movie. The fighting scenes, the different styles of every fighter, made this as realistic as it can get. It looked real, when someone got knocked out I was actually cheering in front of my TV for my fighter, he just finds a place in
our hearts.

Feelings, I was afraid when I saw the trailer for the first time, I wasn’t sure how they will pull of the fact that the audience will need to choose one brother on behalf of the other. And dam if they didn’t do an awesome job by doing what they did. I don’t want to ruin anything here, but I think they made some good choices. I felt with the characters, maybe this was a fighting movie, but this was also a family drama, this brought us, love, fear and desperation all in one movie, and this is amazing.

The actors were just magnificent, the two brothers and the father couldn’t be any better. Tom Hardy, Nick Nolte and Joel Edgerton, just brought us a masterpiece.

No?
Besides the three heroes mentioned here above, I think some other performances could have been better, Jennifer Morrison, even though I’m a huge fan, could have done a better job.

And the more obvious problem in this movie is the cheesiness, we can’t go around it, it has to be there, even though they have minimized it as much as possible, it still was there.

Well…
First of all I’m sorry I review this so late, I wanted to watch it, but never came to it, big mistake on my part. If you haven’t watched it yet, this is the next movie you should watch, its hardcore with some major feelings, loved it. Because of all the above I grade this one…

That's my boy, trailer!

Adam Sandler is considered a good comedian; he has the looks, the jokes and the language to be this amazing comedian. The problem is, sometimes he is making bad choices concerning his movies. He is not stepping out of his comfort zone at all, which in his case is good, imagine him with a huge gun, or in some crazy thriller, just doesn’t make any sense. So his comfort zone is comedy, so why is he picking crappy movies like the late Jack and Jill, which based on everything I saw was crap, so happily I can say that this next one looks great, it has some taste of teen comedy but I guess we will have to wait and see, enjoy!

Yeah, this has teen comedy written all over it, we have booze, boobs and parties, like the holy triangle in a teen comedy. So as always be prepared!

21 Jump Street, Trailer!

Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum (I didn’t choose him, hell I don’t even know him) but they give a new meaning to the word funny in this trailer. This just looks hysterical, cops in High school, with drugs and guns, girls and parties, sounds like the perfect combination for a comedy. Of course this trailer is the Red band version, which includes the actual guns, vulgar words and drugs, but it looks great. I just hope that they didn’t use up all the comedy they have in this 4 minute trailer. We know that Hill can pull off movies like this, well this is actually a weird combination of all of his movies, so I guess this will be fun, enjoy!

I know what you think, awesome, right? It comes out next week so as always , be prepared!

Review: the descendants

Director: Alexander Payne

Stars:
George Clooney, Shailene Woodley and Amara Miller

Genres: Comedy | Drama

Release Date: 19 January 2012

Memorable quote:
Matt King: I don't want my daughters growing up entitled and spoiled. And I agree with my father - you give your children enough money to do something but not enough to do nothing.

What?
Matt King is happily married, has two beautiful girls, enough money to raise them and a nice house to grow old in. On top of all that he is the descendant of some rich princess, which makes him even more blessed. At least this is the picture a lot of people would see from the outside. The reality is quite different, his wife struggles with Death after a boating accident; he learns that she had an affair with some “duschbag”, his daughter is a drunk with a weird boyfriend and that everything he things he has actually falls down like a deck of cards. Try living in his shoes.

Yes?
This movie is special in its way, nothing exceptional happens throughout the whole movie, but the beauty here is the passive flow that the movie projects. Nothing happens, but everything happens. You sit there in the movie theater and you ask yourself, so what happened in the last 2 hours, and the only thing you can say for sure is that you couldn’t turn your head away from the silver screen. Not because some crazy car chase, explosion or thriller, but the harsh truth that life can slap you in the face every second of every minute of your life. We all pray that this won’t happen but the slight possibility that everything good that we have and know can vanish scares us, and this truth keeps our eyes on the screen. This is what is truly amazing, the lack of happening compared to the intensity of things being thrown in our faces.

Of course we also have the usual things that make a movie good, George Clooney performed as his life depended on it, I truly believed what I saw and this made this movie good.

The environment felt real, in the middle of everything that is beautiful, the beach, the sea, the hula girls you understand that there is a family that is just trying to survive the horror of life, just great to watch.

No?
The biggest weakness of this movie is also his strength. The lack of happening in the movie transforms this movie in to something that not everyone can watch. By being so good in his own genre it becomes boring for almost everyone outside of it, half of the people in the movie theater stood up at the end and said” what a waste of time, and the other half was still sitting and thinking of the amazement that this movie left them in.

Well…
I liked this movie, it puts things in perspective, and the sad part is that nowadays we need movies to show us that. You don’t need to watch it at the movies, sitting home is by far enough, don’t understand me wrong it is good, but not good enough to poor money on it. Because of all the above I grade this…

Trailer, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire hunter!

In the last years vampires became a "hot" topic in cinema and TV. Starting with the twilight craze and continuing with things like true blood etc. What is it that excites people about this particular legend, we have many others like zombies, aliens, bigfoot, trolls and l can go on and on. And yeah I know every one of the "things" on my list got some coverage, especially zombies, but vampires attract every type not only the thrill and bloodthirsty zombie lovers. I believe this vampire phase will eventually blow over but it originally exists because of a simple fact: the similarity between human beings and vampires. They are just the bad side of humanity, and through them you can and are allowed to experience all what is taboo in western culture, meaning: lust, desire and passion for the bad. We can taste the bad without feeling bad for it.

(Of course this is in short for the why; if someone wants we can elaborate on this later)

I heard a lot about this movie before they published the trailer, it was interesting before and now it’s even more interesting. I always love when a story uses of historical facts and they build a movie around it. Abraham Lincoln, one of Americas favorite Presidents actually has a hidden agenda, hunting vampires. The trailer looks great, and I can't wait for this to come out. Enjoy!

The combination of old, slow motions, explosions, bloodshed and martial arts, look like they could all work together, I'm excited for this. Let the river of blood flow. Be prepared!

Review: Contraband

Director: Baltasar Kormákur

Stars: Mark Wahlberg, Giovanni Ribisi and Kate Beckinsale

Release Date: 19 January 2012

Genres: Action & Thriller

Memorable quote:
Chris Farraday: Takes money to make money

What?
Being a professional doesn’t mean something needs to be legal, that’s the case with Chris Farraday , he is or better said was a professional smuggler, he gave this up to build up a lovely family and a business. The problem with a bad past is that it will always haunts you in some way. When his brother in law f*cks up a deal, or couldn’t deliver the goods, Farraday needs to get back to the life he tried so desperately to leave behind. To protect his family at any cost, he gets his old crew together for one last hit. The beauty of smuggling is it brings together so many lovely but dangerous people. As you can expect things don’t always go smoothly as planned, this happens while not everybody is paid off even though they should be, everybody wants a piece of the pie!

Yes?
This movie has a lot of good qualities an action thriller demands. First of a bad guy, you have the slick, clean and smart guy, or sometimes as in this movie you have the filthy disgusting, crazy hillbilly white trailer trash bad guy, which was really convincing and scary. Once you have kids in a scene and this guy around, the whole thing becomes scary.

The second thing we need is a good guy but he needs to be a bad ass with a reason to do some bad things, nothing is better than the “family card threatening” sometimes this is just the line the evil guy shouldn’t cross, well he did cross it. Mark Wahlberg can come off as the bad ass guy and whould you believe it, he was also convincing.

The movie had some great scenes, which all led to an acceptable ending, it was sometimes a bit too complicated but we will get there later.

No?
As always here we get the bad things. The movie was a bit too slow for my taste you have moments where nothing happens, and this is a game breaker for an action thriller.

Action/Thriller movies need to be simple, the bad guy, the good guy, some action and some thrills that’s it, here we had so many different variables it just becomes difficult to determine
which genre we are talking about. I just things those things should be clear.

A problem we have nowadays is, the people whos job is to make trailers, are really good. They can make even the worst movies appear amazing, this happened here. We don’t have something besides a trailer to judge a movie, so this movie compared to the trailer, they just weren’t on the same level, I feel betrayed by the editors!

The movie didn’t bring us anything new, or amazing, the whole -back to the bad past because family needs you- idea we had in gone in 60 seconds and this was a good movie based on cars and Angelina Jolie on a Ducati. Here they took the same idea altered it around smuggling which is half so cool, what do you think could be the result?

Well…
The movie brings you the needed thrills for an action Thriller, but there was nothing too fancy about it, some tensions and cheap thrills made this thing still acceptable, there is no need to watch it at the movies, at home with the mid-size popcorn bucket would be enough. Because of all the above I grade this…

The Bourne Legacy, Trailer! There was never just one!

Sometimes a movie comes out when we can say: this will become a classic. The Bourne movies are one of those franchises wherein each movie became a hit. And the reason they became hits, I believe is thanks to the “realistic” action sequences. Of course there is this one man against an army crap, as we saw it lots of times in Rambo and other crazy unlimited bullets movies, wherein the enemy has no chance against the almighty hero. But Jason Bourne was just better equipped mentally and physically then all his adversaries and this made him better. The legendary hit man is better than the simple police agent simply because he had the training, both are men with limitations, but Bourne used them always to his advantage. When I first heard that Matt Damon wasn’t going to be in the next Bourne movie I was disappointed, he became the ultimate fighting machine, and everyone in his way will be destroyed, dislocated or broken, of course this doesn’t have to be in this specific order. Then when it became clear that Jeremy Renner became the replacement I was already in a better mood, he hasn’t exactly the same style as Damon, but he is more the kind of a stronger bully. So I guess we will see. Enjoy!

This definitely looks promising. I love the fact that all the other actors are back with us and that the story kind of picks up where we left of. It’s not like they forget Jason Bourne, there was never just one! As always be prepared!

Review: Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Director: Guy Ritchie

Stars: Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law and Jared Harris

Genres: Action, Adventure , Crime , Mystery , Thriller (yeah you have all of those)

Release Date: 22 December 2011

Memorable quote:
Professor Moriaty: People have an innate desire for conflict. So what you are fighting is not me, but rather mankind. War, on an industrial scale, is inevitable. I'm just supplying the bullets and bandages.
&
Dr. John Watson: How many times are you going to kill my dog?

What?
This is one of those movies where it’s just impossible to write a good introduction. Everything you will say here will be a spoiler and you (if you haven’t watched it yet will regret reading this.) What I can say, is that we have here Sherlock Holmes and his Sidekick Watson who are fighting crime or better try to bring the evil mind Professor Moriaty to justice. I think this sums it all up.

Yes?
As always, the best reason to watch a sequence for a movie is the fact that the first one was a hit and that you just can’t wait for the second one to come out. You are excited and curious to watch what the people from the big studio have in mind here. Is this just a sequel for money, or is there actually something good here. My opinion of course is that this movie was great, I enjoyed myself watching it. The humor, the action and the curiosity for more made this movie awesome.
I’m sure a lot of movie reviewers will say:’ this movie just delivers cheap thrills and talks to the common people”, well believe it or not I am common and I never say no for cheap thrills, the only think I do expect is that they are done in a good and respectful manner, which they did.

Then we have the actors. Everyone knows, or at least should know that Robert Downey Junior and Jude law are good actors. The beauty here is that they are even better together; they just complete each other in this movie. The simple fact of Downey being the loose and crazy cannon and Watson the “boy scout” makes them a perfect duo. They give the movie this perfect sense of “Brotherly love” of course in a weird way. They have a perfect Love/Hate relationship which is just funny to watch.

Another worthy thing to mention is the evil persona; Professor Moriaty is just the perfect adversary for Holmes. He is smart as he is evil and of course this is a scary combination.

The director wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty; taking out “key” players in the movie is a virtue that not everyone has. He just has the “cohones” (translated in to balls) to pull this off.

I just bother to mention the special effects and the slow motions here because they are beautiful even though a bit too much for my taste.

No?
As I said above, even if something is good, don’t overdo it. The slow motion worked perfectly in the forest scene and maybe in a couple of other places, but don’t use it in every scene. We know that Sherlock likes to plan his moves ahead, but we don’t always need to see this upfront. Of course it has to do with the weird “checkers” theme of the movie, wherein every smart person sees and plans his moves ahead and the smarter person does this even further, but too much is too much.

Characters are something good in a movie when they have a good reason to be there, but when they are just there to connect between different scenes, this is just a sign of lack of creativity, try to make the story smoother without always adding another useless character.

Well…
I loved the movie, and I will also watch the sequence, which will come certainly. I hope it will then give me all the thrills that it gave me this time. I know action comedies are the easiest to make, but this one had so much more, and I would recommend you to watch it if you haven’t yet. Because of all the above I grade this…
