Review: Bad Teacher

Director: Jake Kasdan

Stars: Cameron Diaz, Jason Segel and Justin Timberlake

Genres: Comedy

Release Date: 25 August 2011

Memorable quote:
Elizabeth Halsey: Well, that's my spiel, as the Jews say.

What?
Elizabeth is known to be a gold digger, after her fiancĂ© understands that, he breaks it off and she is left with nothing besides her job as school teacher. Which it is important to add she sucks in. Of course she believes that she found the golden rule to pick up man, bigger boobs. Of course on her tiny salary, she won’t get anywhere, so she will do everything she only can think of to get bigger boobs to get a new trust fund as a husband. The end.

Yes?
I’m not sure what to write here, I would say go directly to the NO part but what I do want to say is that Cameron Diaz still got it, she isn’t the brightest of the actors, but I guess she is using what she has to make it work, I’m sure they had some effects added here, but that’s quite it for this movie.

Maybe you had one or two funny jokes, which needless to say were or vulgar or something in this range.

No?
This movie is considered to be sad, and that’s almost the only thing I need to write here. The story is lame and the comedy even worse. The tried a couple of cheap stunts including using Cameron Diaz to attract the younger ones, but I must say the movie was cheap as it was vulgar, which I didn’t expect from this movie. The jokes were just not funny and thw whole thing just didn’t work for me.

Then we have Timberlake and Segel which I’m sorry to say he needs to use his talnet for singing and the other one needs to stay in the living in TV and that’s it, they don’t belong on the big screen.

Well…
If you didn’t watch it, don’t bother, this isn’t even such a movie that you should watch at home in your sofa, just hire or bring something else with your popcorn. Because of all the above I grade this…

Review: Captain America: The First Avenger

Director: Joe Johnston

Stars: Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving and Samuel L. Jackson

Genres: Action, Adventure and Sci-Fi

Release Date: 4 August 2011

Memorable quote:
Col. Chester Phillips: General Patton has said that wars are fought with weapons but are won by men. Our goal is to create the greatest army in history. But every army begins with one man. He will be the first in a new breed of super-soldier. We are going to win this war because we have the best men. And they, personally, will escort Adolf Hitler to the gates of Hell.

What? The time is World War 2, The Nazi destroying machine is taking over Europe, and they come out with weird revolutionary technology to make super soldiers. Back in the States the pentagon doesn’t sit around they decide to come up with their own super soldier. Meanwhile in Brooklyn New York, Steve Rogers gets rejected again from the army service due to his weakness and other physical lacking’s. The only difference is that he has the ultimate weapon inside him, the will and hearth. Combine this with some weird serum and technology and you get the meanest weapon of all Captain America and the birth of the avengers! Of course then we have some super villain in Europe which as needs to be whooped, but that’s just something on the side!

Yes?
Finally we get an action hero worth looking at, he does everything for the right reasons, no pride or money, just world peace I guess, or that the US stays the leading world power, but let not look at the details. We know Evans from the fantastic four, and even there we saw that he is super hero’s material, so the choice here was right.

Then we got the story, I love it when there is a nice background to everything, till our guy becomes superhero we learn a lot about him, and what we learn is great. I liked the flow in the movie and the whole idea of no technology like 60 years ago.

The villain of course couldn’t be any better, yeah I know I didn’t like the red face, but Hugo Weaving is just the perfect villain, as we have seen him in the matrix (Hello Mr. Anderson!) I guess its his rectangular face that makes him so perfect.

Another good thing that I liked were the action scenes, they had meat on them, you had a couple of them, and of course the effects were really good.

Last but not least as in every Marvel super hero movie we see a link between characters just going over from movie to movie. Here we have Starks father, the scientist that helps Captain America to transform in other movies we have just a line.

No?
Two things always ruin superhero movies. The one is the known story line again. Weak guy becomes super strong, some villain who finds some cool thing to also become super strong, they fight, there is some girl in the middle and that’s quite it. Seriously try to come up with something more refreshing.

Secondly the final fight between the two main characters was in my eyes a bit to small and downplayed, Make it huge and just come out in a bang!

Well…
I liked this movie, it kind off stood up to my expectations, a bit more would be good but this was definitely enough. Watch it, its fun and entertaining. Because of all the above I grade this one…

Review; Green lantern

Director: Martin Campbell

Stars: Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively and Peter Sarsgaard

Genres: Action , Adventure, Fantasy and Sci-Fi

Release Date: 4 August 2011

Memorable quote:

Hal Jordan: You know... there is a saying in my planet, we say 'I am only human'. We say it because we are vulnerable, we say it because we are afraid, but that does not mean that we are weak. (cheesy but nice)

and

Carol Ferris: I've seen you naked! Of course I know who you are! A simple mask is not gonna hide anything! (good point, which counts for all the superheroes!)

What?
Hal Jordan is the perfect guy, Super high self-esteem, good lucks and he has the best job on earth he is a fighter pilot. All this of course is pumping his super human ego, which makes him as everything else super cocky. Till something happens that turns his life around, he is chosen by the Ring, the willpower-fed source of power, of the Green Lantern Intergalactic Corps. In other words he gets great powers and a tiny mask, and he becomes a superhero. The job description is quite easy defending the world from evil. Well of course at the beginning everything is fun but when “evil” becomes really scary things get tough for the green superhero.

Yes?
I didn’t expect much of this movie, one because I didn’t believe Reynolds is superhero material, he is more the loose funny character who doesn’t give a crap, which again here he does exactly the same. The movie wasn’t much, the story neither, but I loved the green effects, actually if you don’t succeed nowadays with effects really shows you shouldn’t be in the business but it was nice and again I liked it.

Reynolds was quite good for the part, but still I believe we could find another superhero to fill this part. Then we had the “human” bad guy, I think he came off as really bad, but again his motives were so human and unnecessary, I would go more for world domination and stuff.

No?
Superheroes are tricky, it seems that everything goes easily until it doesn’t an the again it does, and everybody is happy. This same story with superheroes that we had this summer again and again is really pissing me off. Try to come up with something new, it isn’t possible that everything is so easy and that the superhero always kicks ass at the end. The real world isn’t like this!

Then we have the other issues, this power that he got is amazing, and that’s all that you come up with! The potential if this power is so endless, till it came here to the movies.

The story was mediocre bad, not more it wasn’t exciting or I didn’t had a second of hesitation for what was going to happen, sometimes I just want to say f*ck Hollywood and f*ck happy ending.

Well…
The movie wasn’t good enough, I was curious so I watched it, I hope the coming superheroes movies are going to be better. Because of all the above I grade this one…

Review: Thor

Director: Kenneth Branagh

Stars: Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins and Natalie Portman

Genres: Action ,Adventure , superhero stuff ,Fantasy

Release Date: 28 April 2011

Memorable quote:
Agent Coulson: [interrogating Thor] It's not easy to do what you did. You made my men, some of the most highly trained professionals in the world look like a bunch of minimum-wage mall cops. In my experience, it takes someone who's received similar training to do what you did to them. Why don't you tell me where you received that training? Afghanistan, Chechnya? No, you strike me more as the soldier of fortune type. Who are you?

And of course (especially loved this one!)

Agent Cale: [staring at The Destroyer] Is that one of Stark's?
Agent Coulson: I don't know. Guy never tells me anything.

What? Since this last summer was the summer of superheroes, this one will also be one. Thor was the rightful heir e to the throne of Asgard after a small clash with his father the reigning king, as a punishment for Thor being arrogant and irresponsible he is send as a “punishment” to earth ( thanks by the way). On earth as every guy or thing with superpowers he attracts various enemies and even some friends, if this wouldn't be enough; a villain from Asgard sends troops in to our world to destroy him and everything next to him

Yes?
I needed to watch it as a preparation for bigger things that stand for us. I can say a couple of good things for exchange for a lot of bad ones, sorry Thor, Marvel and all the comic lovers. First I need to say that I was excited for this movie, I saw every trailer possible etc. I didn’t know about this superhero before so the first time I saw him was great.

The effects in the movie where nice, Hemsworth as a new face was good enough, I liked the beginning when he gets to earth the confusion and everything, Asgard was also beautifully made. His weapon the “the mighty hammer” was just awesome (more about it later) Portman was ok, not the performance of her life and well Hopkins was as always perfect, nothing to say there.
The story even though based on a comic was nice and good and even a bit entertaining, not more.

No?
As I said before I was excited for this movie, so excited that when it came out and it didn’t stand up to my expectations I was really disappointed, who would believe that Marvel can come up which such a crappy movie.

The beginning was promising, the frost people and the fight there, was of the hook, but that’s it, the fights later where just easy and stupid. You would believe that they would at least make an effort to try to make it look a bit difficult.

So this was the major disappointment, if you have a superhero with huge powers you expect him to use them against the villains in an awesome way, not become human and try something else, cute but this sucked!

Well…
I know it’s an older movie; I was a bit in a break for a while, so things piled up. To conclude this movie, was definitely not something important to watch, if you are a superheroes fan it’s for you if not leave it on the shelf. BTW stay after the credits, this shows the amazing link between all the Superhero’s and the avengers, which will come out in almost a while from now. And that’s why it gets an additional point. Because of all the above I grade this one…

Trailer, American Pie 4 : American Reunion!!

I know a lot of people maybe heard another installment of this franchise is coming out, and I’m sure a lot of people heard that American pie had already like 2o movies, but in my opinion only the three first movies are the real ones, and that’s why its called American pie 4. I’m not sure about you but I know that the first movies came out when I was exactly at the good age for those movies, “the need to explore” was there and this movie was perfect for this matter. Ok, this trailer doesn’t show us exactly what’s going to happen in the movie, but it puts a smile on your face and points you in the direction of the characters and the taste of this last epic chapter. But the thing I’m most exited for is the real reunion of the first movie, they brought just everyone back, and I sincerely hope and believe this is going to deliver some funny, maybe a bit childish stuff. You see I don’t care if the young people of today don’t get it, this franchise was our porkies, this stands at the beginning of our time, this was there to “explain” stuff and not the boring teacher at school, and we took matters in our hands. Just a small warning, this clip is on the vulgar side, so I said it!

So again if you don’t like it screw you, because I’m going to watch it in any case. So as always and here more than ever, be prepared!!

Trailer, the Avengers!!

So what did we have here? A list of known heroes, Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, the Green Hulk and a lot of others. All those together they form a group, a special group an extraordinary group, they are the avengers. I’m not sure if you followed the signs and the hints for this movie coming up; they were shown after the credits of those movies. All those together form a good introduction to the avenger movie. In the link below you have all of them together. Its not the best quality but will do!

The next clip is the trailer for the avengers it’s the first trailer coming out and my god it looks amazing, I just love Marvel and the beautiful connections that they make. So enjoy it!

Don’t you just love Tony Stark, this guy is definitely one of the main reasons I can’t wait anymore for this, so as always be prepared!

Review: the fighter

Director: David O. Russell

Stars: Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale and Amy Adams

Release Date: 30 December 2010

Genres: a true story, Biography and a touch of drama

Memorable quote:

Dickie Eklund: Are you like me? Was just good enough to fight Sugar Ray? Never had to win, did I? You gotta do more in there. You gotta win a title. For you, for me, for Lowell. This is your time, all right? You take it. I had my time and I blew it. You don't have to. All right? You fuckin' get out there, and use all the shit that you've been through, all the shit we've gone through over the fuckin' years, and you put it in that ring right now. This is yours. This is fuckin' yours.

What?

Since I was a child I loved the boxing world. The fact that two people fight against each other and it is allowed made it super interesting for me. Then I got to know the Rocky franchise, I was the biggest fan and I knew all of them by hearth, After all this years another great movie comes by based on the true story of the young boxer Micky Ward, who failed in everything he did until now. Got divorced, lost a lot of fights till this moment and had a sucky ex-boxer- junky as a trainer who just made everything worse. Till he gets the chance of a lifetime and everything starts to go better. Sounds familiar if you have seen Rocky, well this is the real thing!

Yes?
The story wasn’t much of it, an upcoming boxer living in the suburbs in nowhere getting a serious fighting chance. No big deal, but I believe the real big strength of this movie are the actors. Everyone was just on his best here. Yeah even Wahlberg. Normally I don’t see him as a good actor but here he played the role perfectly.

Then we had Christian Bale, this guy is just amazing, he gave everything for this role and he dam well cashed out here, I believe an Oscar counts as cashed out. Then we have Amy Adams actually known for nothing but she was the perfect for this role, the girlfriend who comes between the family and the fighter. The other actors were all just in their good role and made everything looks real.

The environment, the poor suburbs with no hope, drugs and everything just fit the picture in a perfect way. I think that’s enough for here.

The movie brings all this different emotions in place, hope, dreams, excitement, drama and even anger. It shows the decision one needs to make to advance for himself and not hold the weight of others around you.

No?
You could say that for some people the movie would be definitely boring, If you don’t like boxing, maybe this won’t be for you.

I think this was a great movie and I won’t add here anything else/
I write this here, sorry for the delay on this but there was a misunderstanding, I needed to watch this with someone, never had the time, blablabla.

Well…
This movie brings everything that a good movie needs to have, great actors and performance. All this together with the reality of the environment created and you have an Oscar winning movie. If you haven’t yet watched it do it now!

Review: toy story 3

Director: Lee Unkrich

Stars: Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack

Release Date: 17 June 2010

Genres: Animation, some amazing adventure, great comedy for the whole family.

Memorable quote:

Buzz Lightyear: Hold on, this is no time to be hysterical!
Hamm the Piggy Bank: This is the perfect time to be hysterical.
Rex the Green Dinosaur: Should we be HYSTERICAL?
Slinky Dog: No!
Mr. Potato Head: Yes!
Buzz Lightyear: Maybe! But not right now!
Hamm the Piggy Bank: C'mon. Let's go see how much we're going for on eBay.

I know this is an older movie, but I just recently watched it and I believe it’s worth it!!

What?
Andy and our favorite characters from the toy story franchise are back. Only one major difference Andy is going to college, now the toys need to decide their future; escape, or staying and taking the risk to be thrown out or ending in the alley. After a mistake the toys find themselves in a daycare center, which at first sight looks like a heaven for toys, later on this changes and it becomes a living hell on earth which resembles a working camp in Siberia. Woody, who escaped the center before the transformation, returns to save his friends from the claws of the evil teddy bear!

Yes?
I remember the first toy story coming out, the first movie ever made in full animation. It was awesome, and thinks aren't far from the grandfather. The movie was fun, entertaining and we even had some drama. Toy story became a movie for the whole family and not only for kids. Even though we only have Tom hanks's voice his personality comes to light in Woody.
Every toy has his moments and jokes, as also the "bad" toys have. It is amazing how you can make cute teddy become a monstrous creature, same goes for the giant walking baby!

Besides that also the story was nice, you wonder how they could make up something interesting, and the result is just fabulous.

No?
Actually I don't have anything to write here, I thought the movie was good, and this section will just stay kind of blank.

Well...
Of course from my above material you can understand that if you haven't watched Toy story you should get to it. Maybe it’s an animation but it gives you the story of friendship, survival and Loyalty. Watch it dammit!
