Review: Fast Five

Director: Justin Lin

Stars:Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson

Genres: Action at the beginning, middle and end!

Release date: 6 may 2011

Memorable quote:

Chief of Police Alemeida: Is all this really necessary to apprehend two men?
Hobbs
: Let me tell you a little something about these two men. One's a former federal officer, been in deep cover for five years, knows everywhere you're gonna come from. The other one's a professional criminal, escaped prison twice, spent half his life on the run avoiding folks like you.

What?

Toretto is in custody and sentenced to serve a nice time in prison. Of course O'Conner and Mia have something to say about this and break him out. Now everyone is on the run, O’Conner, Toretto and Mia. They try to hideout in Rio, before pulling one last job that will make them enough cash to spend the rest of their lives under the radar, not in handcuffs. For this they recruit all the big players of the race world. As they assemble their elite team of top racers, the unlikely allies know their only shot of getting out for good means confronting the corrupt businessman who wants them dead. If he is not enough we get Hobbs a hard-nosed federal agent who is in it to win it. The win here is to get the whole team locked up. Let’s race!

Yes?

Let’s start with the obvious; we have here some real mussel in play. We get Vin Diesel and the rock in the same movie. I must say those big guys almost didn’t fit the movie frame. They have both huge personalities, and of course when they collide its world war 3. This of course happens and gives us a good hardcore fighting scene. This was of course expected but I loved it. The other actors did their thing which was good but again in the shadows of the giants named before.

The plot is nice, I like it that they try to tie things up with the former movies, and that they didn’t bring other actors instead someone, I hated when they do that. Maybe a bit too complicated, they try to make it something it isn’t. Give a real reason, but ok it kept you interested all the way. The ending was nice, in which they really tie everything up and send everyone were he should be.

It was an action packed movie. We have everything here from guns, cars, explosions and money, all we need.

No?

This franchise is based on cars, cars and more cars. I’m sorry but in this one the cars weren’t the most important thing. We saw a couple of car scenes but I would love to see more. For example the race where they got the two extra cars, show us that, that’s what we want! Besides that I don’t like the bad guy, he was in Desperado and he was exactly the same here, just doesn’t feel it as an actor.

Something else that disturbs me is the action that is too much, I’ll explain. You have action scenes where you just say to yourself; that’s just too much, not possible, and they played with this line a bit. If you want to keep the movie serious, you need to deliver believable action sequences.

Well…

This movie is worth enough to be in the fast and furious series, even one of the better ones so I liked it, it kept what it promised and even showed a bit more. I believe they already work on the fast six or something, so we will see something more of those guys. Watch it, it ties up loose ends!

Johnny English Reborn and Haywire Trailer!!

I give you here two action packed movies. I must say they are not exactly the same style. One is more on the serious action “Bourne” side. The other one is more as we say in simple English “ stupid as the sun shines”, or something. But I believe we will like both considering the one is just a movie everyone needs to see, it’s practically a classic and the other one is an upcoming star.

Johnny English

I loved the first movie, it was just hilarious. Mr Bean as England’s strongest weapon, protector of thrown and country was just too good to be true. I believe that the second one will deliver some great moments, including those were you almost suffocate, cry and piss your pants. Can’t wait for this to comes out.

Haywire

I don’t know more than you about this movie besides what I see in the trailer. I believe this is enough to be excited for the movie. I know it kind of reminds us of Salt (with Angelina) but it still has something else, maybe brutality not sure. So enjoy!

That’s it for those two, I look forward to see those two, so sit back relax and wait till they come out. And as always be prepared!!

Trailers, Immortal and Conan the Barbarian

I decided to put those two trailers together, since I saw some connection between them. I’m not sure where I stand for those movies, but I must say that they look mighty. Special effects, action scenes and killings, swordfights and prehistoric figures, even gods, I believe we have something for everyone in those two movies. Let’s sit back, relax and wait for the movies to come out. Believe me Fall is coming faster then what we think. Even though the summer party of movies hasn’t officially ended , we get there, which is sad of course. But no worries good things lay ahead of us.

Conan the Barbarian

Immortal

Cannot wait for those two, be prepared!!!

Review: Conviction

Director: Tony Goldwyn

Stars: Hilary Swank, Sam Rockwell and Melissa Leo

Genres: Drama

Release Date: 9 June 2011

Memorable quote:

Barry Scheck: This woman actually went to law school to save her brother?

What?

First it is important to say that this is a true story. The movie shows us Betty Anne Waters, as we could say serious trailer trash material, a high school dropout who starts an impossible journey to save her brother from injustice done to him. Starting with a family and kids she slowly loses everything, sacrificing her husband and kids just to fight her way through law school to defend her bother and beat the system to get her brother out of jail.

Yes?

We have here a love story between a Brother and a Sister who would go to hell and back just to help each other. This could some story to show bad siblings, just to show them what others do for each other. The movie was good it kept the suspense, till the ending. It is a sad truth that we live in a time were the justice system isn’t bulletproof, and families need to pay such a high price for this. I believe Swank was perfect for this part, she always pulls it off to look real in the characters that she plays, and she gives everything for a part. Rockwell I actually haven’t seen so much, I just remembered him as the bad guy from the green mile so it was difficult to put him here, but he too was still good enough for this. The characters really made you feel for them and the story just swallows you inside the tragedy of a family who never actually got a chance to survive. Some things in the movie just looks to be unbelievable and then they look lucky, but this is only in the shadow of the cruel life they have gone through.

No?

This wasn’t my first choice when I went to the movies. Why? I wanted to watch something else, that’s why. But even after seeing the movie I still don’t feel that I did a wise choice. The movie didn’t prove to be enough, there was just something missing, even though I cannot put my finger on it. I wasn’t satisfied with the movie, there was nothing huge, and everything stayed small and meaningless. I guess that’s what happens with low budget movies.

Well…

This is probably the first time you hear of this movie, so if it is I wouldn’t recommend you to watch it. It isn’t a masterpiece in anyway, just something that filled my evening instead of going home. I must say Swank was good that’s why they get some points, besides that I hope I will not find myself in jail for something I didn’t do, since this just looked like a fairytale. Because of all the above I grade this one…

Review: Hangover, part 2

Director: Todd Phillips

Release Date: 26 May 2011

Stars: Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms

Genres: Comedy

Memorable quote: (disgusting I know but hilarious!)

Stu Price: Woah! Here's the deal man, I got a dark side. There's a demon in me.
Alan: It's true, he has semen in him.
Stu Price: I said demon.
Alan: But you also have semen in you remember, from the...
Stu Price: It's not relevant, but thank you Alan.

What?

The wolf pack is back! But this time it isn't Doug that gets married but Stu and the wedding is in Thailand! Of course Alan is back on board and also Laurens little brother Teddy, Stu’s future brother in law. Considering what happened last time when they had a bachelor party, Stu demands to keep things calm this time and they have a small get together on the beach. This small get together and only after one beer things kind of get outta hand and we start all over again but this time they need to find Teddy, before Bangkok takes him for herself!

Yes?
I felt here a huge sense of deja vu, but I don't see this as a bad thing since we kind of liked the first one, so the basic structure needs to stay the same. We had only a handful of LOL scenes ( I hate this word but it delivers the message) but when there was a scene I actually had tears in my eyes. The original wolf pack is just irreplaceable, the characters really fit in here, and they delivered a good job.

No?
The bad, well here we can find more than we did above. It didn't work for me, maybe because I wasn't high or drunk like they were in the movie. Everything that you expect to happen happens. The story isn't new nor fresh and honestly not so funny. The weird Chinese guy got too much screen time; he almost became a lead figure, which isn't good. The fact that the jokes were so predictable took a lot out of the movie.

Well…
I don't write a lot since it’s not worth it; the movie was predictable, if this one would be the only one maybe it would be a bit better. So, just for your information the wolf pack is coming back in a third sequel, this film has still something (not a lot but still) something, I hope that the fact that they squeeze all the juice out of it won't ruin the whole thing. Watch it if you really loved the first one than the second one will just satisfy you. But if the first one wasn't that big a deal for you don't watch it. Because of all the above I grade this one...

Trailer: Sherlock Holmes: A game of Shadows

I really liked the first movie, it brought together a lot of elements that you not often have in movies. Great actors, great script, special effects, action and you could just go on and on. The movie was so entertaining that it was easy to know that a sequel will come shortly after. When I say shortly I mean almost two years later, but who looks at the calendar when you can watch a trailer for the all new Sherlock Holmes movie. I’m not sure and I hope people won’t lynch me for this but I believe you can find a real similarity between Sherlock Holmes and Jack Sparrow. Both those characters loved by the audience have this craziness and weird intelligence that makes them just irresistible, needless to say played by amazing actors. Coming out December 2011, it is now time to show the first official trailer for Sherlock Homes: A game of Shadows.

Wow, I just can’t wait to see this one, looks amazing in the trailer and with all probability will just swipe us away at the movies. I just love those slow motion scenes! Enjoy, and as always be prepared!!

Attack of the comedies, trailers!!

I put here a couple of trailers that came out and I believe they somewhat come in the same category. Comedies seem sometimes that they are easy to make, but to come up with something original, is sometimes a real challenge. Not only is it difficult to come up with something fresh, the comedy needs to able to make laugh a whole audience, so touch all of them together and to crack them up. So I have here some trailers and I hope they don’t give away the whole comedy like in Hangover 2 or something. Those movies are probably not a must for the movies, but they could serve a pleasant evening at home. So enjoy!

Horrible Bosses

Crazy stupid love

30 minutes or less

Those three trailers caught my attention and I believe they got something unique that they can bring us. Be prepared!

Review: Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Directors: Michael Bay

Stars: Shia LaBeouf and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Release Date: 29 June 2011

Genre: Action, adventure and Science fiction

Memorable quote:

Optimus Prime: Everything humans know of our planet we were told had been shared. You lied to us. You have made a grave mistake!!

What?

The Movie starts in the sixties, when a major event occurs. A Spacecraft from Cybertron that escaped the Great War crash-lands on the moon. This is the beginning of the so known space race between the Soviet Union and the United States who will first get to the crash site. After that the Autobots learn of the existence of the spacecraft on the Moon, another race begins against the Decepticons to reach it and learn its secrets, which will alter the way of mankind!

Yes?

It is important to explain something. You have those who will love this movie, and those who will want to spill the guts of Michael Bay. I’ll explain, this movie is called transformers based on a former TV series called transformers, in which the story is well known, a lot of characters exist and well everything is standardized, and the fact that the movie didn’t follow the way of the nerd- Geeks and Comic book lovers this is an abomination and a crime against humanity. I on the other hand stand with the side that states that the movies took some ideas from the show, made a story around it, and what do you want I love it.

The biggest yes without a doubt comes for the special effects, they were just amazing, and seriously there was some crazy awesome stuff here. The slow motion transformations in the middle of battles are just delightful to watch. What can I say else about all this is that I watched the movie in 3D. I know I said I won’t do it anymore of the pirates movie, but this was the only option of watching it, and yes amazing, best 3D I have ever seen. But you don’t have all this stupid 3D shit flying to you to show you it’s there, it’s just there, and it made everything just beautiful. Special effects and Action scenes you had definitely enough.

Loved the fact that people died, I mean humans, and no I’m not a fascist I just loved the fact that not everything is pink and nobody gets hurt. There was some serious damage to human life’s here, which made the whole thing a bit more serious.

The story was good, the invasion and all made this a real war movie, which I am a big fan of. And the last thing, this whole rewriting of History just works for me, like in X men this here was just awesome.

No?

I believe we had a couple cast members that just didn’t have anything to do in this movie. But again I love the guy from Sector 7 and his coworker; they always make me laugh. We had an appearance from John Malkovich, I think he didn’t need to be in this one.

The first part of the movie was a bit lame with all the job hunting and girlfriend/parents issues, just wasn’t necessary.

I wasn’t sure where to put this but leboeuf and his girlfriend where ok, nothing more or less. He stayed the same and she was there for the eye candy like Megan fox in 1 and 2, maybe they were average plus.

Well…

I really liked this movie, sorry for all the nerds that didn’t. The amusement level was high in this one, and of course it beats the awful second movie of the franchise. Is it better than the first one, this is one to argue about. Watch it at the movies for the effects; it’s even worth only for that. Because of all the above I grade this one…
