Review: Scott pilgrim vs. the world

Director: Edgar Wright

Release date: 30 September 2010

Genre: a bit of everything: Action Comedy Fantasy Music & Romance (difficult to decide actually)

Casting:
Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Kieran Culkin

Memorable quote:
Gideon Gordon Graves: You made me swallow my gum! That's going to be in my digestive tract for seven years!

What? This movie is really difficult to describe. It’s super weird. But I guess we could say, a guy meats a girl, she is so much out of his league that it’s ridiculous. Before he can continue to date her he need to have a death match with each one of the seven exes she dated before. Oh, he also plays in a band called Sex Bob-Omb!!!

Yes?
As I said before and I will repeat it again this movie is so weird I almost can’t find the words for it. It’s an old idea repacked in a super cool mega future package. Why? Think about it, boy meats a girl, ex is jealous they fight bla bla bla. So this is exactly what we have here but the difference is that the story has undergone a major surgery. We have 7 exes instead of one, and we have awesome death matches. Cera was again this geek and perfect for this role, Winstaed was beautiful and weird, so, also great. I loved the story and the comedy, the fantasy, the effects made by the music (I’m not on drugs you actually see the music) even the action scenes and battles were great. I love it when a movie is out of the box, not the usual crap, just great.

No?
This movie is not made for everyone. I’m not sure for which character this movie is made. As a romantic movie it definitely doesn’t fit. It’s not total action movie either. Maybe that’s a small drawback. Another thing that bothered me is that some of the fights were too easy, but again that’s my opinion. I think that’s enough for this section. It was a good movie.

Well…
This movie was so great to watch, so new and refreshing, it just shows you something that you didn’t see before. Watch it it wouldn’t be a waste of time. Because of all the above I grade this one…

Review: The next three days

Director: Paul Haggis

Release date: 19 November 2010

Genre: Drama, Romance and Thriller

Casting:
Russell Crowe, Elizabeth Banks and Liam Neeson

Memorable quote:
John Brennan: [Purchasing a gun] Show me where the bullets go.
I belive this is a punch line that explains Russel’s Character in the movie!!

What?

A happy family has a quite boring life, parents with regular jobs and a kid that doesn't harm anybody. One day all this changes; the cops brake down the door and drag the mother out of the house for murder. Innocent or guilty she faces 25 to life. After all the paperwork fails the husband takes things in his own hands. An exciting story of a desperate husband, will he succeed?

Yes?
Let’s start with the obvious but still not always visible is Paul Haggis, great writer and Director, I like d what he did here, so this should be clear for everybody.
The first beauty is the uncertainty if the wife is innocent or guilty, which is hidden throughout the whole movie, this fact doesn't disturb the husband to play silly games and to try rescue her. There is a lot of emotion in play here, I felt really bad for Russell and the kid when they take away the mother. A funny fact is you want the whole thing to succeed bearing in mind the fact that she could be guilty. To bring the whole crowd to stand behind Russell is great. Russell as always was amazing. Banks was also good, but didn't have too much to do here. You could almost call it a one man show. I also loved the part that he learns everything from YouTube, which again is quite possible. Then we had Neeson for a brief moment, he is just perfect for this small part! The most important thing is the flow. You stay focused during the whole thing and it keeps you sharp to follow every single detail so you won't miss anything.

No?
I hate the word luck. Russell is not James bond nor a Superhero.; if a non professional can pull all this off, luck comes in handy, and it most certainly did. Everything felt in place, when and how he needed. It almost looked too easy. For me this is definitely a negative point. Besides that I don't have much more. Maybe the last scene was a bit unnecessary but that's it.

Well...
If you liked prison break, in which every possible thing worked out bad, you will like this one. Watch it, its fun and keeps you interested and squeezed into your seat till the end. Because off all the above I grade this one...

Review: Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps

Director: Oliver Stone

Release date: 24 September 2010

Genre: drama

Casting: Shia LaBeouf, Michael Douglas, Carey Mulligan and Josh Brolin.

Memorable quote:
Gordon Gekko: It's not about the money - It's about the game
And
Gordon Gekko: Bulls make money. Bears make money. Pigs? They get slaughtered.

What?
Same story, but this time we have different players, everything goes faster and bigger. A millionaire doesn't count for nothing when a billionaire stands next to him. We found ourselves before the biggest financial crisis in human history, and in the middle of all that we have Jake Moore who's going to marry Gekkos daughter who recently came out of the joint. In exchange for some tutoring Moore tries to unite father and daughter. Who plays big looses big!!

Yes?
Again, sequel so we must see it. Is it any good? Well the first movie was quite difficult to understand, the second one was easier and had some nice effects in it. LaBeouf is good, Douglas is awesome based on those two we have a movie. I liked the connection between the two movies, the old and the new had a good overflow. Another nice touch was Josh Brolin, he always comes off as the evil guy, and he definetly did it here. Everybody is connected to this crisis and everyone needs a bad guy. If people wouldn’t know about Maddof&co, he could take the fall for every last bit of the crisis.

No?
There's nothing new. It’s exactly like the first one, but Douglas hair isn't so arranged anymore and the color has faded. We have the same ideas like his older brother but bigger and flashier. Money is still money but changes hands quicker. A small thing that bothered me is the fact that we have more than one evil guy in the movie. You start feeling for the one, then you hate the character, then you like him again. I like it when the evil guy stays evil, and vice versa.

Well?
Watch it, I liked it. The thing is if you want to make a remake don't call it number two, don't only change the players but change the story. Because of all the above I grade this…

Review: Little Fockers

Director: Paul Weitz

Release date: 23 December 2010

Genre: Comedy

Casting: Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson and Robert De Niro

Memorable quote:
Jack Byrnes: I'm watching you.
Greg Focker: Yeah, well I have eyes too, so I'll be watching you... watching me.

What it’s all about? We start this episode, where we left off in the last movie, Greg and Pam Focker got kids. Jack Byrnes who suffers a hearth attack, or something like it, decides to appoint Greg, the male nurse as the strong successor, godfather, head of the family instead of him. Can he handle the pressure?

Yes? You don’t have a lot of good reasons to watch this movie, ill try to give you two, as difficult as it is to come up with them. As I said many times before, I’m a curious guy. When you have a movie, which is fun to watch, relaxing and original, most of the time, the producers will decide to make a second or even a third movie to suck all the green stuff out of it and I guess that’s the first reason, it’s a sequel, and well knowing that the movie is going to suck, Ill have to watch it. Then you have the second reason, the actors: Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson. I really like them, and again as sucky as the film is they stay great actors and comedians.

No? I’m not going to kill this movie because of his forefathers, respect to the elderly is important. This aside, the movie was horrible. The central word to describe this is predictable. When you sit at the movies and you can predict an upcoming joke, for my taste the movie becomes lame. I admit you had maybe one or two scenes where I felt the tears in my eyes, but they weren’t enough to make up for the crappy script and story in this movie.

Well…
I don’t think I need to mention that this wasn’t to good. You had some funny moments, but all in all a big disappointment and a bunch of cheap comedy. Jessica Alba ones again takes her clothes off, interesting, but not enough. Ben Stiller is probably gay considering he rejected her. It’s good for a popcorn night at home not more. Because of all the aboe I grade this…
