Memorable quote: (actually you have quite a lot; I just liked this one more)
Jack Sparrow: You know that feeling you get when you're standing in a high place... sudden urge to jump? I don't have it.

What?
We start this part of the journey where we stopped the last time. Famous Jack Sparrow finds himself again without a ship or crew, on the eve of a huge adventure to find the Fountain of Youth. He unexpectedly crosses paths with his so called “ex-girlfriend” who tricks him on her father’s ship, who shockingly is the infamous Captain Blackbeard, which is so conveniently also on the way to find the Fountain of Youth, all this with Jacks professional help. The journey becomes kind of a death race when the Spanish fleet and the English fleet led by Captain Barbossa try to get to the fountain first. All in all this sounds quite nice.

No?
I start with this section because I’m filled with anger and I got a lot of bad stuff to say here. I think the worst thing in a movie is expectations, especially when they are not fulfilled. I’m quite a fan of the POTC franchise so I believed this one will be a nice add-on to the existing parts, but as I saw a couple of days ago, I was wrong. It lacked so many things I don’t even know where to begin. I think the worst thing was the lack of the ‘wow factor “that we have in all the other ones, you just didn’t have it, I sat in the cinema waiting for “it” to happen, but it never came. You didn’t have a whole crew of death living or a captain as Davy Jones, a huge monster or a goddess, nothing. We got a couple of harmless zombies and a bunch of silly mermaids which were so pumped up in the trailer. The last thing, what was this fake indie love story in the middle of all this? Seriously this was pathetic. I actually can go on here, but I have some respect for Jerry Bruckheimer so I’ll stop here.

Yes?
Now to the good stuff. First of all you have to watch it because it’s Jack Sparrow. Everyone who watched the three before can’t withstand this one either, sorry that’s how it is, you are hooked. Jack and Barbossa just deliver this all the way. Their characters shine, especially since everything else falls in the background. The story was ok. The effects where nice but not spectacular, the soundtrack was as always inspiring. The fact is that this movie wasn’t bad, but it just wasn’t good enough compared to what it had to be. You have a couple of funny moments (almost exclusively by Jack) which give the movie the well known action – comedy genre. I think that’s quite it, in a nutshell.

Well…
I watched the movie in 3D, big mistake. Don’t do it, don’t watch it in 3d because you are going to spoil the whole movie. That’s it, this is the last time I’m going to spend more money for something worse. I actually hate it for now on. So all in all entertaining, but I’m sorry to say this can wait for the DVD at home or whatever, not a must at the movies. Of course you need to watch it since Jack Sparrow still gives hell of a one man show. Because of all the above I grade this one…

Grade: 6.5 out of 10 (sorry Jack, it’s not personal!)
