Review; Green lantern

Director: Martin Campbell

Stars: Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively and Peter Sarsgaard

Genres: Action , Adventure, Fantasy and Sci-Fi

Release Date: 4 August 2011

Memorable quote:

Hal Jordan: You know... there is a saying in my planet, we say 'I am only human'. We say it because we are vulnerable, we say it because we are afraid, but that does not mean that we are weak. (cheesy but nice)

and

Carol Ferris: I've seen you naked! Of course I know who you are! A simple mask is not gonna hide anything! (good point, which counts for all the superheroes!)

What?
Hal Jordan is the perfect guy, Super high self-esteem, good lucks and he has the best job on earth he is a fighter pilot. All this of course is pumping his super human ego, which makes him as everything else super cocky. Till something happens that turns his life around, he is chosen by the Ring, the willpower-fed source of power, of the Green Lantern Intergalactic Corps. In other words he gets great powers and a tiny mask, and he becomes a superhero. The job description is quite easy defending the world from evil. Well of course at the beginning everything is fun but when “evil” becomes really scary things get tough for the green superhero.

Yes?
I didn’t expect much of this movie, one because I didn’t believe Reynolds is superhero material, he is more the loose funny character who doesn’t give a crap, which again here he does exactly the same. The movie wasn’t much, the story neither, but I loved the green effects, actually if you don’t succeed nowadays with effects really shows you shouldn’t be in the business but it was nice and again I liked it.

Reynolds was quite good for the part, but still I believe we could find another superhero to fill this part. Then we had the “human” bad guy, I think he came off as really bad, but again his motives were so human and unnecessary, I would go more for world domination and stuff.

No?
Superheroes are tricky, it seems that everything goes easily until it doesn’t an the again it does, and everybody is happy. This same story with superheroes that we had this summer again and again is really pissing me off. Try to come up with something new, it isn’t possible that everything is so easy and that the superhero always kicks ass at the end. The real world isn’t like this!

Then we have the other issues, this power that he got is amazing, and that’s all that you come up with! The potential if this power is so endless, till it came here to the movies.

The story was mediocre bad, not more it wasn’t exciting or I didn’t had a second of hesitation for what was going to happen, sometimes I just want to say f*ck Hollywood and f*ck happy ending.

Well…
The movie wasn’t good enough, I was curious so I watched it, I hope the coming superheroes movies are going to be better. Because of all the above I grade this one…

Grade: 6.5 out of 10
